"This
is the girl who saved me. Her name is Pamela Higgins, and she lived
in Wellington, New Zealand. She wrote me constantly when we were in
Westpac and those letters were my life blood. She is like an icon of
my life. I don't need to tell any of you what mail meant. There was seldom a mail call when I did not get at least 4 or 5 or 10 letters from this lady. I nominate her the Belle of the Bradley. I will never forget her. This photo was thrown out by a jealous wife in 1981 but Pamela recently sent me another one. (she is a bit older now but no less beautiful, at least to me) " |

"One
of the Gunner's Mates working on Mnt. 52 on March 28, 1968 in Vietnam.
Note the blackened condition of the barrel from repeated firing. Basically,
by the time we left the gun line the paint on the barrels had been burned
off. " |
